Shanghai Municipal Government awards the prestigious Magnolia Silver Medals to Dr. Ying Luo and other foreign residents from the fields of commerce, finance, and education. The awards recognize the contribution of Dr. Ying Luo and others to the economic development and the society. The ceremony is held in the auditorium of Jin Jiang Hotel. Dr. Ying Luo was awarded ＾2006 Best Partner of Labour Union￣ at a ceremony organized by the Labour Union of Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park for his cooperation with labour union activities. Under the full support of Dr. Luo, the labour union was established in Shanghai Genomics to enhance the inter-communication between the employees and enrich the cultural activities. Selected from a group of candidates recommended by the companies based in Zhangjiang, Dr. Luo is one of the final five winners announced at the ceremony.

Xinhua News Agency released a video script, entitled ＾Colloguing for the Development of Pharm-Valley in Zhangjiang￣, on its website. In the video script, Dr. Ying Luo, President and CEO of Shanghai Genomics, attributed the fast development of Zhangjiang Pharm-Valley to the effect of industry convergence, corporate-friendly regulations, and the cooperation between Zhangjiang Pharm-Valley and Shanghai Genomics in building both brands. He further addressed the importance of prioritization of resources of the park, so that the limited resources can be used to foster technology innovation, and establish the Zhangjiang Pharm-Valley as a global-leader in Bio-pharmaceutical industry.
