October 2, 2007 Dr. Ying Luo, CEO of Shanghai Genomics, assumes the position of CEO and Representative Director of GNI, Ltd. Dr. Jun Wu is also appointed as CSO and Executive Managing Director of GNI.
September 4, 2007 Shanghai Municipal Government awards the prestigious Magnolia Silver Medals to Dr. Ying Luo and other foreign residents from the fields of commerce, finance, and education. The awards recognize the contribution of Dr. Ying Luo and others to the economic development and the society. The ceremony is held in the auditorium of Jin Jiang Hotel. Director of Foreign Affairs and other government officials from Shanghai attend the ceremony.
August 31, 2007 GNI, the parent company of Shanghai Genomics, has completed initial public offering (IPO) at the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers Board. Dr. Ying Luo, CEO of Shanghai Genomics, and Dr. Jun Wu, CSO of Shanghai Genomics, attend the ceremony in Tokyo.
June 5, 2007 Dr. Ying Luo chaires the afternoon session of the IBC China R&D Summit 2007 in Shanghai. He also gives an short overview of the landscape of biotech industry in China.
May 16, 2007 Dr. Ying Luo was awarded ^2006 Best Partner of Labour Union ̄ at a ceremony organized by the Labour Union of Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park for his cooperation with labour union activities. Under the full support of Dr. Luo, the labour union was established in Shanghai Genomics to enhance the inter-communication between the employees and enrich the cultural activities. Selected from a group of candidates recommended by the companies based in Zhangjiang, Dr. Luo is one of the final five winners announced at the ceremony.
May 3, 2007 Dr. Ying Luo is invited to give a presentation at the conference of ^Mobilizing the Private Sector for Global Health Development ̄ in Toronto, Canada. Participants of the conference include executives from pharmaceutical/biotech companies and government/government-affiliated agencies in China, Brazil, India, South Africa, Canada, USA, and many other countries around the world. Dr. Luo elaborates the business strategy of in China and exchanges views of the on-going healthcare reforms in developing countries with the audience.
April 17, 2007 Xinhua News Agency released a video script, entitled ^Colloguing for the Development of Pharm-Valley in Zhangjiang ̄, on its website. In the video script, Dr. Ying Luo, President and CEO of Shanghai Genomics, attributed the fast development of Zhangjiang Pharm-Valley to the effect of industry convergence, corporate-friendly regulations, and the cooperation between Zhangjiang Pharm-Valley and Shanghai Genomics in building both brands. He further addressed the importance of prioritization of resources of the park, so that the limited resources can be used to foster technology innovation, and establish the Zhangjiang Pharm-Valley as a global-leader in Bio-pharmaceutical industry.
