Ying Luo, Ph.D., Chairman,President and CEO Dr. Luo is the cofounder of Shanghai Genomics and GNI's Chairman,President and CEO. An accomplished entrepreneur and scientist with over 20 years of experience in biomedical research he conducted research in area of protein-protein interactions and their related genomics, and he has authored many publications in the top scientific journals. Before founding Shanghai Genomics, he gained experience at Aviron and Clontech, both US bioventure firms, before joining Rigel Pharmaceuticals, where he served as the senior director of Genomics and Target Discovery. Prior to that, in 1993 he joined the University of California San Francisco as a postdoctoral fellow studying HIV. Dr. Luo is currently also a director of functional genomics at the Chinese National Genome Center at Shanghai and an adjunct professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University. He completed his undergraduate education at Peking Union Medical College (Peking University) in 1982 and received his doctorate in biomedical science from the University of Connecticut Health Center in 1991.
