Ying Luo, Ph.D., Chairman
        Dr. Luo is the cofounder of Shanghai Genomics and GNI's Chairman. An accomplished entrepreneur and scientist with over 20 years of experience in biomedical research he conducted research in area of protein-protein interactions and their related genomics, and he has authored many publications in the top scientific journals. Before founding Shanghai Genomics, he gained experience at Aviron and Clontech, both US bioventure firms, before joining Rigel Pharmaceuticals, where he served as the senior director of Genomics and Target Discovery. Prior to that, in 1993 he joined the University of California San Francisco as a postdoctoral fellow studying HIV. Dr. Luo is currently also a director of functional genomics at the Chinese National Genome Center at Shanghai and an adjunct professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University. He completed his undergraduate education at Peking Union Medical College (Peking University) in 1982 and received his doctorate in biomedical science from the University of Connecticut Health Center in 1991.

Jun Wu, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive officer
        Dr. Wu, the co-founder of Shanghai Genomics, Inc. and the Chief  Executive Officer of GNI, has over 20 years of experience in biomedical research. Following his medical studies at Shanghai Medical College in 1987, he moved to the US to complete his B.S. degree in Microbiology and Immunology at San Jose State. From 1988 to 1991, he worked for the Transplantation Immunology Laboratory at Stanford University Medical Center and participated in preclinical efficacy and toxicology studies on new immunosuppressants. In 1997, he received his Ph.D. from the University of California at San Francisco for his research on T cell-mediated immune regulation. During his subsequent postdoctoral fellowship at DNAX/Schering Plough, Dr. Wu was awarded the Best Fellow of 1999 for his discovery of a novel immune surveillance mechanism against cancer. He held a scientist position at Rigel Pharmaceutical before co-founding Shanghai Genomics. An expert in lymphocyte signal transduction and tumor immunology, he is also the co-director of functional genomics at the Chinese National Genome Center at Shanghai and a visiting professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University. In 2002, he received the prestigious Outstanding Young Scholar Fellowship from the Chinese National Science Foundation.
Xiaoqing Sun, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Head of Biology
        Majoring in Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Dr. Sun received his Bachelor's degree from Fudan University in 1988. In 1991, he received his Master's degree in Genetics from the Institute of Genetics at Fudan University, and moved to the United States in 1992. After receiving his Ph.D in Biochemistry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, Rutgers University, where his research was focused on transcription regulation, he did postdoctoral research at Genentech, Inc. and studied inflammatory diseases by cloning important new genes in the TNF signaling pathways. Joining Shanghai Genomics in 2001, he now directs the company’s functional gene screening and target validation programs.
Naoki Seno, DVM, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Drug Discovery and Development
Dr. Seno has over 30 years of experience of working in the Pharmaceutical industry. Before joining GNI Ltd., he was the director of CNS research in R&D division of Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., Ltd., responsible for drug discovery, preclinical development and transition to Phase I in CNS therapeutic area. Dr. Seno also served as Head of Pharmacology II (CNS, Oncology & general pharmacology) in Sandoz Tsukuba Research Institute, and then afterward held the position of head of pharmacology department in Tsukuba Novartis Research Institute from 1993 to 2000. He completed his postdoctoral fellowships in the United States, as a physiologist in Department of Neurobiology, Center for the Health Sciences, University of Tennessee Memphis and pharmacologist in Mental Retardation Research Center, Pneuropsychiatry Institute in University of California, Los Angeles, respectively. Regarding working experience in a global pharmaceutical company, he worked for Sandoz Institute for Medical Research, Bern and then, London from 1988 to 1991, as a visiting researcher. Dr. Seno also held a position of senior researcher/manager in Pharmacology Section of Nomura Research Institute from 1984 to 1988. He received his doctorate in Hokkaido University, where he completed his undergraduate and postgraduate education.
James Yu, Ph.D., Vice President of Biotechnology
          Dr. Yu received his Bachelor's degree with a major in Biochemistry from Nanjing University in 1986. In 1989, he received a Master's degree in Cell Biology from the Shanghai Institute of Cell Biology, and then in 1997, he completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology at Temple University. After doing postdoctoral research at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, where he worked on the development of novel anti-infective drugs, he joined Xenogen Corporation, a company that specialized in the real-time in vivo imaging of animals and where he held the position of Senior Scientist/Project Manager. Dr. Yu returned to China in 2005 to join Shanghai Genomics, where he is responsible for in vivo animal model and antibody research and development.
Yi Wang, M.D., Ph.D., Vice President of Clinical Affairs
         Dr. Wang received her Bachelor's degree from Shanghai Medical University in 1988, majoring in Clinical Medicine. In 1992, she received her Ph.D. in Dermatology at Shanghai Medical University, and then worked as a physician at Shanghai Huadong Hospital. From 1994 she was responsible for clinical affairs at several pharmaceutical companies, such as Schering-Plough (China) Ltd., Tianjin SmithKline, French Labs., Ltd. and other companies. She joined Shanghai Genomics in September 2005 to direct the company’s clinical affairs.
Yuwen Wu,Chief Financial Officer
         As a Senior Accountant and Senior Certified International Finance Manager, Ms. Wu has been supervising the Department of Finance and Accounting from 2001. From 1998, she had held various positions of finance and investment affairs, at Dengfeng Electronic Technology Co. and Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park Development Co. Her responsibilities covered accounting, finance management, controlling, budget management and investment analysis, etc. She is also familiar with international accounting standards and financial reporting system.
